There’s a conversation so many of us find ourselves having these days. Sometimes it’s with a friend over coffee. Sometimes it’s at three in the morning with ourselves. How do we navigate a world changing this quickly? How do we “be with” the pain erupting in unfathomable ways, in our country and around the globe, without being consumed by it? How do we honor the deep sense of loss and disorientation as cultural norms dissolve beneath our feet, while feeding a genuine hope for a new world that is unfolding?
An old way of operating—built on force, control, and the illusion of separateness—is no longer viable.
I’ve been sitting with these questions for a long time. For over thirty years as a life coach and workshop leader, I’ve been talking about the profound paradigm shift that is underway. Yet none of us could have known exactly what the process of change would look like, how frightening it would feel, or the depth of courage it would ask of us.
What we did know is this: an old way of operating—built on force, control, and the illusion of separateness—is no longer viable.
We can’t sit on the sidelines and wait for the new paradigm to arrive, fully formed, from somewhere out there.
That world is getting louder, even as it is dismantling itself before our eyes. Every day brings challenge, a kind of test to stay connected to the truth of our oneness when seductions to fear and blame are everywhere.
That’s why I’ve decided to introduce the Lucid Moments series. It’s a way for us to build a bridge to the new world, one small truth at a time. We can’t sit on the sidelines and wait for the new paradigm to arrive, fully formed, from somewhere out there. It’s something that each of us must build within and allow to manifest around us.
Allowing REALness to Lead the Way
The work of creating a new world requires realness, grounded in love and deep responsibility, in every area of our lives. As my teacher Lazaris said many years ago, “the steps of getting there are the qualities of being there.” What that means to me is The practice IS the crossing.
We craft this world by becoming the Joyous Adult: by tending to our frightened and reactive inner voices, by aligning our thoughts, feelings, beliefs and choices to the expansive frequencies of the new paradigm, by consciously holding the light of hope and trusting in the future we’ve been dreaming so long.
When we are grounded in the safety of our Joyous Adult self, we can hold complexity without collapsing. We can feel the grief without being consumed by it. We can act from clarity rather than fear.
It’s time to live the R.E.A.L. framework of Lucid Living in everything we do, to lead with Responsibility, Adult Authority, Emotional Vulnerability and Love.
That’s where Lucid Moments comes in. Each month I’ll bring you one distinction, one practice, one new way of seeing. Small, useful things to carry into your days. Not answers. Luminous reminders. Companions for the journey.
Lucid Moment: The practice is the crossing.
Remember that everything in your life has prepared you for this moment. Your Soul has been scattering breadcrumbs for you to find your way…
In the days ahead, revisit this idea. Write it on a post-it or create a daily reminder in your phone. Affirm that every time you choose hope over fear, you are creating an anchor to your luminous future. And remember that everything in your life has prepared you for this moment. Your soul has been scattering breadcrumbs for you to find your way.
We don’t have to solve the problems of an old world. It’s enough to slow down, breathe and anchor ourselves in a resonance of hope and love.
The crossing is underway. Let’s make it together.
